Evaluating two interventions for scaling up upcycling: Community event and upcycling plaza

Abstract Upcycling – creation or modification of a product from used waste materials, components, and products for higher quality value incorporates multiple strategies increasing material efficiency provides other environmental, economic social benefits. With growing concern the environment, past few years have seen growth upcycling practitioners businesses, yet despite such growth, largely remains niche requires scaling-up to significant impact on environment society. For scaling up upcycling, several promising interventions been suggested. This paper evaluates two these: community event plaza. Two case studies (on “Art with Upcycling” co-creation family in Leicester, UK, Seoul Plaza Seoul, South Korea) conducted using questionnaire, observation interview studies. The results show that made positive psychological participants, many programmes run by plaza were perceived as successful stakeholders. Based aforementioned impact, these are recommended prototyping, piloting monitoring cities countries global upcycling.
